The statement from Tuan, the president of VG, is: "Together, make better" envisioning the aims to achieve:

    1. A uniting and teamwoking spirit of VG community.

  1. A more effective plan to diversify activities for VG's members.

  2. A more sustainable society which maintains and strengthens connections with other societies.

The meeting follow with a Logo competition which includes 8 entries. The voting result selected the logo number 7, designed by Tuan Nguyen and highlighted the core values of VG including:

  • Uniting students working together for a better student life. The logo portraits the image of people holding hand together in a circle.

  • Representing both Vietnamese culture symbol and Greenwich cultural meaning. The logo symbolized major features traditional Dong Son Bronz drum, which was used as calendar calculation in Vietnamese culture at the mid-1st millennium BCE; and the compass rose representing historic and cultural meanings on the logo of the University of Greenwich.
Mr Nhat and Ms Mai - the parents of one of Greenwich University students - attended the meeting. " We feel very please that VG has found and the students now has an organization with helpful activities to join, to support each other and to develop themselves", said Mr Nhat.

The meeting ended up with a photos-taking section on the Greenwich Hill taking the meaningful background of the Canary Wharf, The thames river and the University of Greenwich. We believe that this location is a good Feng shui setting in Vietnamese culture perspective.

THE FIRST DAY OF VG

It was a day in March. We stayed together and talk bout an idea of founding a Society for VN student at the Uni. It was fun and exciting actually.

Tran started with her well preparation documents which she seems poffessional. She wrote many ideas about activities and our good intentions. Tran wrote basic documents about preparation process to found the society.

Then Hung added his suggestions about how the actities should be carried out.

Trinh excitedly talk about how we should work and support to each other.

We all agreed that Vietsoc GRE should be started soon to meet the needs of all Vietnamse students. We talked bout who will resposible for communication, finantial activities, sport and music, study and works etc. Nhien, Thac, Huong,Hiep,Kien were also asked for involvement. We all agreed that VG should give presents for her members on their birthdays.

We agreed that a short sentence will inspire people and represent our visions . I like to go for the one that :

  • Ecourage teamworking
  • Unite people
  • Clarify our purposes
My sentence: " Together, make better"

We started VG in a night like that, a night of warm, enthusiatic, friendly atmostphere of the young hearts. All for our lives - the students studying far away from our homeland.
